Product direction · updated 4 September 2026

A roadmap with the boundaries attached.

What Staged is building now, what comes next, and what we are deliberately not promising. No fake dates. No abandoned feature list dressed up as a plan.

Four honest lanes

Direction, not a date-based promise

Priorities can change when compatibility results, release readiness, or real user needs change. A feature moves forward only when it is scoped and tested.

Now

The product as it exists today

Staged is a Windows virtual-display Game Stage: the game keeps its fullscreen workflow while your other apps live in zones on the same physical screen.

Game Stage

Render the game on Staged’s virtual display at the resolution you choose, then show it live inside a zone on your monitor.

Zones and live app docking

Build a layout with the Zone Editor and keep apps such as Discord, OBS, chat, browsers, or video visible beside the game.

Profiles, hotkeys, and Game Mode

Save layouts for a game, arrange them again, and keep cursor control where you need it with Staged’s own controls.

Resolution and display controls

Choose the render resolution independently from the physical display and use the available refresh, HDR, and dimming controls.

Next

The work that unlocks the next release step

These are the next product priorities, not dated promises. Release readiness depends on signed-driver work and compatibility testing.

Release and compatibility readiness

Finish the signed virtual-display driver path, installation recovery, and the Windows compatibility gates required for a dependable Steam release.

Backstage

Develop the honest quick-hide workflow for Staged’s own presentation window, with explicit limits around capture, focus, and anti-cheat boundaries.

Ephemeral display lifecycle

Create the virtual display for a session and tear it down cleanly when the session ends, so an inactive stage cannot be accidentally selected for sharing.

Onboarding and preset polish

Make the path from game detection to a useful layout shorter, with better preset management, import/export, and context switching.

Later

Expansion after the core is dependable

These ideas extend the same coexistence model into focused workflows once the core display and release gates are proven.

Streamer, sim, and AI-assistant presets

Package useful layouts for stream controls, sim dashboards, and a user’s own AI assistant beside the game—without reading or controlling game state.

Desk-Companion mode

Explore the inverse layout: work fills the screen while a lightweight game stays in a pinned corner zone.

More context automation

Evaluate richer Work, Play, Stream, and Solo profile switching plus notification-aware workflows after the basics are stable.

Not committed

Not on the active product path

A roadmap is also a boundary. Ideas below are not promises and will not be presented as planned features without a new product decision.

Linux or mobile versions

There is no active commitment to a Linux port or a mobile companion app.

Plugin ecosystem and broad platform integrations

There is no scheduled plugin platform or undated list of game-launcher, OBS, Twitch, or store integrations to imply future coverage.

Cloud-first product direction

Staged stays local-first. Cloud sync and account dependencies are not part of the current commitment.
