Please read these terms carefully before using Staged software or services.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Staged ("the Software", "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Software or Service.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
2. Description of Service
Staged is a virtual display management application for Windows that allows users to create customized screen layouts for gaming and streaming. The Service includes:
- The Staged desktop application
- The Staged website at https://staged.gg
- Related documentation and support resources
- Community platforms (Discord, GitHub)
The Software utilizes Microsoft's IddCx (Indirect Display Driver) framework to create virtual displays. This is a Windows-supported technology.
3. Open Source License
Staged is open source software released under the MIT License. You may:
- Use the software for any purpose
- Modify the source code
- Distribute copies of the software
- Include the software in commercial products

4. User Accounts
Currently, Staged does not require user account creation. If we implement accounts in the future:
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account
- You agree to provide accurate and complete information
- You are responsible for all activities under your account
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
5. Intellectual Property
5.1 Staged Branding
The Staged name, logo, and associated branding are trademarks. While the software is open source, the Staged brand identity is protected.
5.2 Third-Party Content
Staged integrates with third-party services (Steam, Discord, etc.). These services are owned by their respective companies and subject to their own terms of service.
5.3 User Content
Any presets, configurations, or content you create using Staged remains your property. By sharing content publicly, you grant us a non-exclusive license to display and distribute that content.
6. User Conduct
When using Staged and our community platforms, you agree not to:
- Use the Software to violate any laws or regulations
- Attempt to circumvent anti-cheat systems in multiplayer games
- Distribute malware or harmful code
- Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
- Impersonate Staged staff or other users
- Spam or flood community channels
- Share pirated or illegal content
7. Disclaimers
7.1 No Warranty
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
7.2 Anti-Cheat Compatibility
While Staged works with most games, some anti-cheat systems may detect virtual displays. We cannot guarantee compatibility with all games, particularly those using kernel-level anti-cheat (e.g., Vanguard, certain EAC implementations). Use in competitive games is at your own risk.
7.3 System Stability
Virtual display drivers can affect system stability. While Staged uses Microsoft-supported APIs, issues may occur on some systems. Always ensure you have backups of important data.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL STAGED, ITS DEVELOPERS, OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
- Damages resulting from game bans due to anti-cheat detection
- Damages resulting from system instability or hardware issues
Our total liability for any claims shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Software (if any).
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Staged and its developers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Software
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Any content you create or share using the Software
10. Termination
You may stop using the Software at any time by uninstalling it. We may terminate or suspend access to our community platforms for violations of these Terms.
As open source software, you retain the right to use, modify, and distribute the Software according to the MIT License, even after termination of these Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction where the primary developer resides, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Software shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation or, if necessary, through binding arbitration.
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be announced on our website and Discord server. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance.
